Usually I hoard these great finds and never use them---but, I figured they were meant to be used, not looked at! My youngest DD had a birthday party to go to--and I thought this made a cute card for a little girl.

Jennie's challenge over at the A Muse Lounge site really got me thinking about all of the stamps that I've purchased that I still haven't used-----I decided it was a good time to ink them up and have some fun! I bought these a while ago and I can't believe I haven't used them before---they're so stinkin' cute! I just got the bracket punch a couple of days ago, and was dying to use it somehow, someway!! First Lounge Challenge

I think my New Year's Resolution should have been to blog more! I am hoping to at least get one challenge done per week--and with the great new A Muse Lounge up and running, that should make it easy and fun! Jennie is still the mastermind behind the weekly challenges and this week was to use something new---I bought these Purrfect Clear set stamps a while ago--but they haven't seen ink yet--my goal is to make Valentine's for both daughters' classes this year, so between this set and my new order on it's way--it should be a piece of cake!

Wow! I can't believe it's been almost a month since my last post! What the heck have I been doing? Oh well, here is my attempt for the December Home Page contest over at the A Muse Addicts site. I was actually thinking of this card for our family greeting--but I think it's a little too time consuming for mass production! Back to packing--off to the cabin for Thanksgiving!

It's a gorgeous fall day here--bright and sunny! I really should be outside doing yardwork-----our yard needs to be mowed one more time before the snow covers it--but I only like to cut it when it's 80 degrees and sunny! Who wants to mow with a hat and gloves on? But, at least I can put on a pair of cozy mittens! :) I'm having so much fun making these--they come together so fast! I got the party time set a while ago, and haven't used it yet. How perfect that Jennie chose that one this week on the A Muse Addict site.

I had a couple different ideas, so I decided to post them both! They both have sentiments that were made by combining two together---the first one uses the what's cookin' from the clear set and brewing up some fun---the second one is you're special and hot diggety dog mixed together!

I wasn't really sure what to do----I stumbled across the Madeira stamp and it grew from there--I was going to pop dot the acorns--but I wasn't sure if that was allowed in "one" layer! Mittens

My sister mentioned that she was going to make some mittens out of old sweaters. I decided that I wanted to try too! I found a cute old sweater in the back of my closet that I never wore because it itched too bad---I hate wool!---I felted it in the washing machine, cut out a mitten shape for my youngest daughter and voila---mittens were born! I added some felted flowers to make them more girly! The toughest part was definitely the sewing---I DO NOT sew--I don't own a sewing machine, so I did these by hand--it was a long process-my sister mentioned how cute they would look with yarn blanket stitched around the outside---hmmm-that might be easier! I think I'll get some more old wool sweaters from the thrift store and try that method! Thanks for stopping by-Tracy

It's a very "fall" day here, overcast and rainy. I was a good girl this morning and got all my cleaning done (but not all the laundry, because seriously, it's never ending!). So, since I got my chores done, I thought it would be a perfect day to tackle some challenges---I just purchased these stamps from Tracy and thought it would be fun to use them on her sketch. These little Saltbox Studio mice are so cute----I really wish I had some pregnant friends! It's funny, 10 years ago all my friends were getting married, or having kids---now it's too early for graduation, or their kid's weddings, or grandkids---kind of a standstill. Have a great day!!

I was the lucky winner at the A Muse blog of the new Saltbox Studio Fall set----these sets are fabulous!!!! I am embarassed to admit I didn't own any Saltbox Studio before this---that will soon change! There are so many great images--my toughest part was trying to decide which ones to use! My first card is also my entry for Jennie's weekly challenge on the A Muse Addicts blog. Julie posted another sketch/color combo on her blog. I Love these colors, but it's funny, when I know I have to use them, I tend to get stuck! Weird how that works! I like this little sweater dog stamp--it reminds me of my own little dog, Petie.

I used Bazzil Bling cardstock, A Muse notecards and stamps. Not sure on the chipboard star--it's been in my stash for a while now! Yellow ricrac is from my DH's late grandmother's stash---now she had supplies!

I tried making a card yesterday using colors that Julie had posted on her blog. I really didn't like it-but posted it anyways! It was bugging me, so I decided to give it one more try--this is what I got. Weekly Challenge-Orange Crush

I woke up at 3:11 this morning wide awake for some reason. As I lay there, trying to get back to sleep-I started thinking about the weekly challenge at the A Muse site. I also knew my hubby needed a card for a friend in the construction business. My DH and his uncle had made some homemade coffee liqueur this weekend that he had wanted to give to him. SO, as I lay there turning all these things over in my head--this is what emerged! I didn't make it until 10:00 this morning though! ;) Thanks for looking--Tracy

Stamp of the week

Jennie gave us several choices for stamp of the week over at the A Muse Addicts site. We could use the clear leaves set, or the wine glass, or the wine and cheese. I decided to try all 3! My first card was using the wine and cheese and wine glass together. I put some Ranger Glossy Accents on the wine bottle and glass to make them shiny, and I used a MS leaf for the expression. The top layer is pop dotted onto the cardstock.

The next one used the clear leaves as a background, I then used the naked tree and mounted on cardstock. The expression is from the new clear tree set.

This one felt a little plain, but I think I really like it like that!

Get Away

My hubby wanted to go on a get away for his birthday to western North Dakota---I'm sure no one would guess that it is a really beautiful area---it even has mountains! We wanted to explore some different ravines looking for old bison bones and fossils.

We lucked out and had great weather--we even had a few fun finds! We found several bison bones, a forest of petrified stumps, and I even found an arrowhead---Tracy

DH and I are leaving for a much needed get-away bright and early tomorrow--so I knew if I didn't do it now, it probably wouldn't get done! :) Anyone else have kindergartners? Have your sweet little children morphed into insane, sleep deprived beasts? I can't possibly put her to bed any earlier----she'd be in bed before supper! ;)

I rummaged through my stamp drawers looking for an idea--I like the chandelier, and love these colors from A Muse--the brads were in the dollar aisle at Target(Yay! Target), Staz-on ink in Jet Black, Aegan Blue ink, and baby blue stickles.

Tracy's Sketch Challenge

I love doing these sketch challenges-it takes the guesswork out of the layout--which is usually the hardest part for me! I didn't get around to it last week-I honestly have no idea where last week went! I didn't want this week to escape me too--DH and I are going digging for fossils and bison bones this weekend, and I know I'll be busy getting kids events and schedules ironed out later on this week--it's always 4 days of work for 2 days away, right? ;)

I decided to use the new tree clear set from A Muse on this card--I really like this set--I think I'll be using it A LOT! The saying is also one of my favorites-and I love fall colors, so it all just fell into place. Thanks again Tracy, for posting these fun sketches every week--I always look forward to Thursdays! Weekly Challenge

Jennie's challenge this week on the A Muse site was to make either a sweet treat container or a treat card. I bought these silver tins 2 months ago on clearance at JoAnn's Fabrics. I had no idea what I was going to do with them, but they were too cheap to pass up!

I thought this would be a good time to break them out! My oldest DD plays basketball, and I thought it'd be fun to make some post game treats for the girls-the A muse clear sports set fit the circles perfectly--I colored with copics, the basketball ribbon was an orange dotted ribbon-I drew the lines to make it look like basketballs-now I'll fill them with M&Ms and pass them out after the game! I have to admit, the aged paper challenge last week threw me--I just couldn't get an idea. I was really happy to have something like this to play with this week. I just got my new tree set from A Muse, so of course that was what I used.

I needed a card for my sister's anniversary, and I really like the fact that these tree images are so versatile.

I've been meaning to send her a gift card to Starbucks and I never got around to it. I decided that of course she should be the recipient of my card!

was the MB Holiday Bird, MB Little Bird, or the clear Celebration Kids. I decided to use my MB Holiday Bird, but I ended up going in a completely different direction than my original plans! LOL! I decided that the ornament could be made into a Jack-o-lantern. I masked off the holly on birdie's head, then paper pieced Sabrina's hat on instead. I used a fine line pen to make the pumpkin face. I'm loving these new calendar downloads from A Muse! They are so versatile, and fun to play with! I got the square format, but I'm thinking I'll go back and get the other two as well.

All stamps are A Muse: pumpkin baby, witch girl, cat style, and banner from clear border set. The solid bird marks the party date!

Anything but a card...

was the theme for Heather's spark this week. The first project I did was one that I'm sure everyone has done a version of at one time or another in grade school. The good old paper lantern-this time turned into a pumpkin. I used A Muse, Me and My Big Ideas, and Making Memories paper. I stamped a leaf from A Muse's new clear set and added some to the pumpkins and then tied them to some twine at varying lengths.

My next project was to pretty up a Glade candle--I took white cardstock, and stamped with leaves from the A Muse clear set in different colors. I then added a MS tag stamped with an A Muse sentiment. I glued this around the base, added some A Muse ribbon, and voila!--an easy peasy fall project! Tracy

This week for Heather's spark, she challenged us to use embossing in our designs. Sounds fun, right? Well, as a very newbie stamper, I had never embossed before! I knew though, exactly what I wanted to do--I love this new little rat from A Muse-I decided to just go simple-I only embossed the white rat, and the sentiment--it came out kind of cool--I really like how embossing just pops the sentiment at you!! Watercolor Spark

This week Heather posted a watercolor challenge for "Share your Spark Friday". This one had me scared! I've only used my watercolor pencils a few times, it's just so easy to reach for those copics instead!

I do like how this image turned out(sorry for the bad pic). The watercolors gave it a softer look. I distressed the edges of polka dots to give it a kind of "shabby chic" look.

A Muse Stamp of the week

First of all, my girls are much better today! After a sleepless night(for mom), my youngest daughter's feverpeaked, and she only has a little sore throat today.

I wanted to use the stack of books-but as a gift card holder. After searching, I found the perfect template at the A Muse News site--of course!!

I had no experience whatsoever in doing one of these, and it literally took me 15 minutes to whip this up!! I can't wait to get my new A Muse stamps to get started on some Halloween goody bags!

A Muse Office Supplies Challenge

Whew!! What a crazy day! My DS got braces today, and I must admit, he looks really good with them!! My littlest DD is running a high temp with a bad headache, and my oldest DD is starting to feel "achy". The only good thing is that we don't start school until next week, so hopefully everyone will be fully recovered by then.

I did get a chance to work on the Challenge over at the A Muse Addicts blog when little DD was napping.

The Challenge this week was to use Office Supplies on our card. I knew I wanted to use this image, I just didn't know which direction it was going to take!! I used the Elyse image from A Muse, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, copics for coloring, MS scallop punch, Paper Studio cardstock and tag punch, A Muse notecard and ribbon, and stickles on the heart. I typed the sentiment on cardstock and attached here. Thanks for the challenges, Jennie!

These are my entries for Tracy's sketch challenge over at the EatSleepStamp blog. I had some time to play this morning, since my youngest DD wanted to "do stamps".

Lesson learned here-even though you may be impatient--a stamp positioner is a good thing! Next time, I'll use mine!! I love this little doggie bag stamp from A Muse-it reminds me of Petie, my little rat terrier-who the kids just adore!!

I used white cardstock for my card, stamped the Madeira stamp as a pattern using Colorboxes Cateyes chalk ink, the sentiment is from Hero Arts, border from Doodlebugs, ribbon from A Muse, coloring with Copics.

Absolutely gorgeous day in Minnesota today! The temp is in the 70's - nice and

cool for a change, with bright sunshine. It's a nice break from the 90's and humidity we were having. I got these stamps from Stampstruck earlier this week, I really like the saying!

Geeta challenged us to use 3 of 4 colors on our cards for the September Home Page contest over at the A Muse Addicts blog. I didn't have all the colors noted, so I had to play around a little.

Notecard is A Muse French Roast, the leaves are stamped on the Kitchen collection-in yellow, red and green. The orange is just scrap cardstock. All images are by A Muse, ribbon is A Muse (love this one!) coloring is with Copics, Staz-on Jet Black ink, and stickles on leaves. I just love fall--hard to believe it's only a few weeks away with the hot, hot, hot weather we've been having--hot for Minnesota anyways!! :) Tracy

Heather's challenge this week was for a Halloween card--I just couldn't get an idea to save my life!!! I think it was because of all the bitter jealousy I felt after seeing all the great sneak peeks!!! I NEED that Sabrina and Crow stamp(and everything else!) Anyways, after staring at my craft table for a while--this is what I got--I am not thrilled-it seems lopsided to me--but I figured I would post to share, and maybe I will get a great "spark" and post later this week as well. Tracy did such a cute Christmas card for her sketch, that I felt inspired to do the same. I love this new little guy from A Muse-he is just so sweet and versatile! I used A Muse notecards and stamps, Staz-on Timber Brownink, A Muse ribbon and "candy", copics for coloring. The toughest part on this one was picking out the different papers, they are all so cute it makes it hard! Tracy

Sketch Challenge

I found a great blog, EatSleepStamp, that had a sketch challenge posted. This is usually very hard for me for some reason. Today when I sat down, I got not only one idea but two!! On the first, I used A Muse notecard, A Muse stamps, Marvy punch, MS Daisy and tag, Stazon jet black ink, ribbon scrap-coloring with copics, and Ranger glossy accent for a "wet" look. I really like how this one turned out.

The Halloween one came about as I was playing with the Marvy tag punch-I thought it would be neat to try the three across that way--next to look for a stamp that fit--the A Muse witch fit perfectly! Heather posts great challenges every Friday on her blog--they have really helped me expand my creative horizons! ;) This week the challenge was to remove a portion of the cardstock. I really had a tough time with this--I had never attempted anything like this before. Once I finally figured out how to go about it--it came together pretty quickly. I used white cardstock stamped with a background of snowflakes-by Hero Arts-the car stamp and sentiment are by A Muse-tag is MS, red cardstock punched out with Marvy punch. I had a tough time getting my oval pretty enough with the craft knife, so I felt the need to cover with the scalloped oval! Thanks Heather for the creative push!! Tracy

Birthday party crafts

Thanks to all the great minds over at Amuse Addicts I was able to come up with some great crafts for the girls to do----I prestamped some images onto Shrinky Dink plastic-cut out with Marvy punches, then had the girls color in with permanent markers. We added keyrings after baking so they could attach them to backpacks, jackets, etc. They all had a blast doing this! We also used the stamps to make bookmarkers as well. Thanks again everyone! Emily's Birthday card

Today was the perfect time to make a card for Emily's birthday. Everyone was out of the house giving me a chance to stamp in peace. I love the Elzybells dreamer--Madeira and sentiment stamp by A Muse. A Muse notecard, CS-Neenah solar white, coloring with copics, and my NEW Koh-i-noor pencils--I loved them! Need to find a tutorial online, so I can get some pointers! Ribbon is A Muse.

A Muse Stamp of the week

Well, since I don't have the lemonade stamp--which I always thought was a cocktail stamp too!-my decision was easy. I really love this tire swing stamp--it just makes me happy!

I decided to do a window card since I've only done a couple of those. I used a Marvy scallop punch-image and sentiment stamped with Memento tuxedo black, A Muse kitchen red notecard(my favorite!), colored with copics. Paper frill is from Doodlebugs, ribbon scrap-tire is coated with glossy accents from Ranger to give it "shine". Thanks for looking-Tracy

As soon as I saw this challenge for depth, I knew what I wanted to do. I bought these stamps back in January and have been itching to use them! How funny that there is a definite "Halloween" theme going on this week! maybe that should have been the challenge! ;) The notecard is A Muse, all stamps are A Muse-I used Memento tuxedo black-and Rubber Stampede silver for sponging in the background. I received a Birthday RAK from Dawn S. with this great image on it--so of course, I had to go buy it immediately!!! My daughters love this Elzybell-how great is she! It's my niece Katelin's 18th B-day today so this card was also made for her.

I made this card for my youngest daughters best friend-they spend a lot of time together--the kids were very excited to go to her party----it's always fun to go swimming!

Notecard is A Muse-stamps are the clear Celebration Kids stamps- -ink is Memento tuxedo black---A Muse creative candy-stickles on dress and crown and star--copics for coloring--I'm most excited about the white cardstock-I splurged and bought the Neenah classic crest solar white--can I just say OMG!! what a difference good quality cardstock makes--as a newbie I'm constantly learning--this was a great discovery!!! I'm looking forward to the first day of school-it's been a loong summer of baseball, softball, t-ball, and swimming lessons! :)

Have you ever had an image come into your head and then drive yourself nuts trying to make it come to life??? or is that just me! Well, in that spirit, here is my shape---I really wanted it to be this pool, and even when it wasn't going the right way I just could not quit!! A touch of Norwegian stubborness perhaps!

I used the A Muse pool stamp and enlarged onto the Dew notecard, I used an A muse oval stamp for the water and the party time is from the A Muse Celebration Kids clear set, fish also from A Muse--anyone seeing a theme here! :) I popped the fish up and used copics and spica pens to make him sparkle-----There is always next Friday--Thanks for the challenge Heather---it's fun to stretch the imagination! A Muse Weekly Challenge

Flying in just under the deadline with 3 cards---lucky me, the girls were zonked after spending the night at their friends house--plus rainy weather means I'm stuck inside, right?? This idea has been floating around in my head for about a week--ever since I saw something similar on another site--(sorry I can't remember where) I did change it up some--got to make it my own!

Notecard is Cabana Blue peel-A Muse--the Birch, Doghouse, Sniffer, and Scallop tree are all A Muse. The dot snow border is Hero Arts and the sentiment is Memory Box. Ink is Memento Tuxedo Black-copic markers, stickles, and A Muse ribbon(to help disguise my crooked stamping!) The toughest part for me was getting that tree to look right in the doghouse! I really like how this one turned out--we live in a house that looks like a barn with a silo attached--so this reminds me of home-minus the cows!! :)

I really had a tough time coloring my trees---too much diet pepsi-my hands were a little unsteady--so don't look too close!

Ok--busy, busy day-first swimming lessons, then baseball, golf, grocery shopping, and oh yeah---a trip to the craft store!!!! Can't pass up those sales! :) Four stamps to choose from this week-I had the rock star and clear coffee so I went with those.

Rock star card is a variation of a card I made for my son's birthday. I was really trying for a spotlight effect--didn't get it--not really sure what it looks like!! :) Notecard and patterned paper from A Muse-rock star A Muse-sentiment Memory Box, Memories ink in black.

Coffee card went in a completely different direction from where I was heading, oh well! Paper and notecard are from A Muse, coffee stamp from A Muse clear set, Memory Box sentiment, ink is Versafine 54 brown, ribbon A Muse.
